What Is Solar ATAP?
Solar ATAP is Malaysia’s rooftop solar programme that allows electricity consumers to generate renewable energy at their own premises and offset electricity usage through on-site consumption. For homeowners, it can also support a more structured solar panel for home plan when the system is designed around actual household usage.
Introduced on 1 January 2026, Solar ATAP continues the rooftop solar framework established under Net Energy Metering (NEM), enabling users to maximise self-consumption while receiving bill credits for surplus energy exported to the grid.
Process of Solar ATAP
Solar panels generate electricity during daylight hours.
The property uses the generated electricity first.
Excess solar energy may be exported to the grid.
TNB supplies electricity when solar generation is insufficient.
The Solar ATAP contract period is up to 10 years. After that period, the installed system may continue operating for self-consumption, subject to the applicable requirements.

Who Can Apply for Solar ATAP?
Solar ATAP is available to eligible TNB consumers in Malaysia, subject to regulatory, technical, and utility approval requirements.

Solar ATAP applications must be submitted through an appointed Registered Photovoltaic Service Provider using the official eATAP process.
Eligibility and final capacity approval remain subject to the latest SEDA Malaysia, Energy Commission, and TNB requirements.

SuRIA Home
SuRIA Home 2026 - Solar Rebate for Residential Solar
SuRIA Home is a residential incentive connected to Solar ATAP. It provides eligible Malaysian domestic consumers with a one-time cash rebate of RM600 per kWac, capped at RM3,000.
The incentive is available on a first-come, first-served basis from 1 June to 31 December 2026, or until the available allocation is fully distributed. Applicants must meet the official programme conditions.
